NAVS AT FRESHERS WEEK

We would love to have you help us at the Clubs & Societies Bunfight on Wednesday 29th September. The details of what will happen on the day and what we will be advertising are explained below.

The NAVS stall will probably be in the religious societies section of the Bunfight (University Sports Hall) and the stall will operate from 10am to 4pm. We will be meeting at the stall from 9:30am to chat and pray before the day kicks off. If you can only make part of the day that is great too - just turn up and we'll put you to work!!

The stall is going to be set-up partly as SOTON NAVS and partly as ALPHA SOC. The Alpha Society was set-up a number of years ago to create an opportunity for doing things on campus and advertising evangelistic courses. The purpose of the stall this year is therefore twofold:

(1)We want to raise the profile of SOTON NAVS and invite people to get involved in discipleship / study groups

(2) We want to do questionnaires to get people thinking about spiritual things and to invite them to groups like Christianity Explored, Alpha and Glad You Asked.

(3) Above all we want to encourage as many students as we can to be part of a Bible study and/or evangelistic group whether that be with NAVS, with CU or church.

Most of us will probably spend the day doing questionnaires (as a means to encourage students to think rather than just completing questionnaires) and encouraging people to go to evangelistic groups – we need their contact details to get back to them!!

Thegroups we want to advertise are therefore as follows:

IGNITE Discussion group - (Monday evenings 7pm, starting 11th October 7pm @ 53 Harefield Road)

Bible study Groups – Tuesday OR Thursday evenings 6:30pm  (Starting 5th/7th October 6:30 @ 53/68 Harefield Road)

The people we meet will probably fall into a few categories:

1st year Christians – Hall group should be their priority unless they are not in Halls - would be great to see them bringing friends to IGNITE

2-5th year Christians – encourage them to go to Tuesday/Thursday evening Bible studies

Any non-Christians – encourage them to go to the Alpha Soc website and IGNITE - stress that should they be unable to make Mondays we can offer / recommend alternatives.

The publicity we will have to advertise the above will be as follows:

Download IGNITE Flier (TBC)

Download Bible study Flier (TBC)

Download General NAVS Flier (TBC)

We have designed the literature to give details of who we are and what the groups are about!! We will try to get copies onto the website so that you can have a look before Wednesday 29th Sepetmber. We will also be at the first few CU meetings and would appreciate your help if you are free afterwards. The meeting is 7:30pm, Friday 1st October at the EEE building on Highfield Campus.
